Background and History
Hobbs Global Logistics Solutions is an established full service Customs Consultancy & International Freight Forwarding Company with an enviable reputation for personalized service through senior staff with a depth of experience.
The Company was founded in 1981 and is still owned and operated (with assistance from senior staff) by its’ founder Keith Hobbs. In establishing the business, Keith wanted to provide a more “personalized service” with a “can do” operating philosophy, this remains the core value of the business. Many of the original customers remain today, the majority of which, choosing to put all their international business through the Company to form a Total Logistics package.
The International Freight side of the business has been operating from Day 1, developing naturally from the customs side of the business. Over the last 10 years this has grown dramatically and represents a sizeable “chunk” of the business. A few years ago a commitment was made by the owners to develop this side of the Business and membership of the prestigious international group “FORCE” (Family of Related Cargo Experts) was sought & attained. This is an organization of Independent Freight forwarders that provides the buying power to compete with the Multi Nationals and has service guarantees (KPI’s) that must be maintained to keep membership. It also provides a forum for the wealth of international expertise within the group to be shared. This way we are able to handle any type of international freight business; including ship and aircraft charters. The company has always had the notion of no business is too small or too big. Regular consolidations both in and outbound, plus group buying power for FCL’s ensure that we provide an efficient and effective solution for all customers. The Customs and Tariff consultancy business is supported by 7 Qualified Customs Agents with a depth of experience, (probably) second to none in New Zealand. Extensive consultation with clients and “intelligent” lateral thinking ensure that an optimum result (that has integrity) is achieved for clients importing new products or increasing their range. With the combined strengths of both factions of the business, KA Hobbs is able to provide a “Total Logistics Package” to any discerning importer or exporter.
The Company has its’ main office situated at Auckland airport, with 3 satellite offices located in West, Central City and North Shore, thus we are able to provide the local “touch”. NZ wide operations can be effected through aligned local agents with the central control through the Auckland Head Office.
The Company has celebrated 25 years in business in 2006 with a re-branding of the product (to better reflect what we do!) with plans to move to larger premises. At that stage we will expand our 3rd party logistics platform.
