In December 2012 the government announced plans for three annual increases in fuel pricing with equivalent increases in RUC ( Road User Charges).
The 1st increase on RUC came into effect on 1st July and the increases ranged from 4% to 10%.
As a result, most if not all road transport carriers will need to increase their cartage rates, these are likely to be in the range of between 1.5 – 2%, and effective from 1st August.
On top of this we currently have a situation where the NZD has weakened against the USD,resulting in increased diesel pump prices , this will have a direct effect on the various Fuel Adjustment Factors ( FAF’s) currently being charged by all the transport operators.
