In the latest Australian budget an announcement was made which will have significant impact on importers in Australia. Exporters from New Zealand need to take heed of these charges
In summary –
The current charges that are levied at the time of import by Australian Customs are :-
– AUD88.00 for the first container and AUD 24.00 per container thereafter
– AUD70.00 for LCL
-AUD55.20 for airfreight
From 1 January 2014 for consignments over AUD10,000 in invoice value the following charges will apply:-
-AUD190.60 for the first FCL and AUD24 per container thereafter
-AUD172.60 for LCL
-AUS137.10 for airfreight
