you may be aware of the current issues with delays and congestion at empty container depots – they are FULL
containers normally evacuated from NZ, has not occurred through increasing export loadings, and currently there is no short term solution.
the effect is more chance of detention charges as a result that the empty containers cannot be returned
Cartage companies have advised all the major shipping lines that they will not be accepting any detention charges on containers that simply could not be returned to the depots, and trucks being turned away.
Our advise to clients is perhaps to contact us first, so we can check to see if the de hire depot can accept empties, otherwise there will be trucks being turned away, thus incurring more transport charges….
