We want everyone to be aware that there are serious problems developing at the Los Angeles and Long Beach terminals. The Longshore clerical workers ( OCU) have gone on strike, it began with one terminal and it is spreading as the Longshore and Warehouse Union dockworkers are honoring the picket lines, this has already affected sailings to New Zealand.
” we are disappointed at the OCU’s actions and want you to know that we ( APM Terminals ) have worked diligently throughout these protracted negotiations to avoid any disruption to operations and reach a fair labour contract, understanding that harmonious labour relations benefit the harbour community and shipping industry as a whole”..
